MFF and back, the travellers tale
Lets see how to start this.. Once upon a time there was a bunch of folks who wanted to go to MFF. They pooled money, they plotted and planned, and all was well, until the day of leaving. The van had shed its skin to become.. a ford flex!. Amazing trick in itself, and a call later resolved nothing but a discount so off we went. Cue a LONG drive to the con, with stop at border for wonderful random searches of the contents of our bags, and fill in forms for why we dared to enter the sacred land of milk and honey. I guess they are embarrassed to have tourists come and see whats happened to the land of greatness, or they really are power abusive lads. Border silliness done, MORE long driving to Chicago armed with a wrong turn, sleepy driver naps, food refueling, and watching the weather growing from blah to goodness. the con itself?. Well lets see. NICE hotel but sadly outgrown in our 2050 attendance so off to a new one next year, far lager and more room to fill up ;). The rooms were a treat, nice and quiet, smashingly comfy beds, shower was a trouble but I got it fixed long enough for the plumber to replace the defective shower head..and mop up. The game room was a sad letdown as it was not at all really stacked with good games, or advertised. the video room was about the same which is a shame as they could have really done wonders with both rooms and is events. The art/dealers den, very nice and well thought out. Good selection of artists and much chatting with folks. the headless lounge was nice but too far from the elevators, and too far from bathroom.. That was not fun for some of us even as a door guard i had a panicked run to use the facilities. The con staff?. VERY good at what they did, even to the dreaded *elevator shuffle* job which NO one likes, but we had to do it. The Chicago pizza, hell the claim jumpers, even mcdonalds.. was delightfully filling and tasty food with no issues later after eating it. I shall happily say this was a well worth it convention for what its worth and hope folks will go again since it now has even bigger digs to get into. ;). Gaia bless, and hugs to all those who went with me Pakesh *happy and comfy* De | | Wednesday, August 12th, 2009 | | 2:20 am |
Current events
Oh my its been a long time, so on with the updates. lets see, attended FCN of course several months ago with friends..was amazing how much it had grown in 2 years but I hope it has not peaked so soon, place was tight and they might be in trouble fitting us all in for 2010. great folks, well run, art room of course was trouble but I have not heard of any con that has yet not done something badly to annoy the fandom. Then onwards to Anthrocon, the grandfather of the fandom con wise. massive building, lots of wasted space but hopefully it means we got tons of room to grow, so unlike FCN they should not be scrabbling to hunt new venues each few years, and that's always critical. prices were good, the local food places.. holy crap were very nice for the price and size. The hotel we stayed at was very nice aside from the total *thall shalt not room party* contract they insist you sign, which killed our room party flat ;/. next time we shall have to find one of the other areas that allow more then 4 folks in a darn room suite that can hold 30 rather nicely.. The local dramas all have been relatively minor aside from the usual *whom did what to whom* sort of deals one can not pass a week by without a new one being circulated. trying to get our own con going for the march 2010 season and needless to say that's being quite the challenge!. logistics alone are a mess as is of course, contracts, legal, finances, all those wonderful things guys like Kage must go through so often its like a daily ritual. Finances are as usual poor but working at friends garage to learn useful skills and confidence to be in the workplace, as well as working the con should get me out of that slump, or at least keep me useful to enough folks i can at least not sit on the dole playing WoW or the latest *OMGWTFBBQ* game that comes out. been hearing a few friends as well suffering thanks to the global meltdown fiance wise but cheer up, supposedly we are around the corner and light..not a incoming train, is down that tunnel. Gaia bless to all specially those that still message me, and to the other silent ones, hope you wont mind a *hello* now and then ;). The aches of winter?
Well lets see its been a good few months so let us update life in the quiet world of me ;) Currently in pain from damaged right arm due to bad diet and not enough iron apparently, the deep cold makes it far worse so iron pills 3 times a day, light exercises, warmth, and hopefully 6-8 weeks back to right as rain. Work is picking up, which ran right into the arm injury *laugh* so back to on hold but should not be for too long with any luck. Granted its sad when seeing so many folks totally out of work that I land some but I will take what I can with a smile, and the odd chucked rock *laugh*. Friends seem to be going well enough, one has buisness going out in the middle territories so thats a good thing to hear (btw if you read this haijakai yes indeed the game account went belly up if you can fix that greatly appreciated:)) another has plans for nice car restorations so thats a treat to help when allowed, and learn skills! ;). A plus in any book Family is a bit tricky but since i was never tight with them it should not be too hard to deal with the odd out of nowhere phonecall much less the need to housesit here, or babysit there. Good to have family no matter what in this day. Missing friends like a certain cederwyn when or where he pops back up hope you have been getting my messages since they seem to be going to you correctly. roadkill is almost home so he is okay, Dodger is good baring more patrols into la la land to play *whack a turban* so thats a releif. Most other friends still posting so i can keep track of them, offer well wishes, chat when they wish my input, and know no matter how quiet i am that you are indeed not alone or fogot. Gaia bless to many others in this dark cold chilly morning, I shall leave a light on at the door and cookies on the table.... The wait for I13
Ahh tis the whine of delight to my good friend Haijakai that the city of heros account hath expired ;). Sorry to ask dude but I13 is *supposedly* comeing for tuesday so figure its best to ask now and hope before it slips out again. Gaia bless and let us know if you got anything good for your birthday btw, maybe a chunk of lucky meteor for you! ;). Imagine that would make a heck of a nice conversation peice in anyones house. The barryman says hi as well before staring at the empty void of the computer. woke me out of a sound sleep when he exclaimed the tgame was denied..heh some way to wake up. Gaia bless to you and yours there Pakesh *woohoo I13 comes* De | | Thursday, November 27th, 2008 | | 10:54 pm |

The Islington party survivor Report
Dear lord that was a HELL of a nice party, matter of fact the best I have attended this year I must say. Just the basic facts, we had a *really early but at least all who could attend could before the real xmas party season kicked in* party in the Islington area of Toronto. It was a severely well done success!. We had i suspect a full turn out of about 70 folks all told from the 124 that signed up, so considering it was 14 hours I feel vindicated to have been the *security bitch* for the party, mostly cause its a crappy job but someone HAS to do it. A small complaint though, next time we will need to bring another fan or two to get a airflow going aside from the open stair doors so as not to annoy the landlord. Shout out time :) Ki-wind.. for being the host with the most.. thanks for putting on the shin-ding dude Dan *sleepyhead* for being the contact guy, errend runner, sleepy looking guy but a big help D'Otter? *POCKY* for of course, the bringer of the sacred crack on a stick..MMMM much goodness *Mystery Benefactor* for renting the room and hopefully attending to see it was money well spent. Danrunk* lord of the kitchen* for making one mighty fine chili. Glad I pitched in to serve it. Morgan *what me worry?* for attending, relaxing!, fursuiting, and grumbling he missed Monopoly :) Jacob *the BIG guy* for being there, having fun, kicking butt in said Monopoly. good fun Fulminar* the BIG quiet guy* for REALLY kicking ass in the game, a gentleman, and having fun! Robodobie *Smokes* for showing up late to mingle, suit up, have fun, and sneak a few cigs *nosocks no service guy* for being the only drunk at the party..no booze for you! ; *The Nice Lady* for being there, errend running, chipping in cash, and being a really nice lady! Bungee *mr video* for running the quiet room, videos, tech set up, and relaxing comfortably Deoge *Mr camero* for ride to the party, the snacks!, and clearly loves to drive..Varoom! Yes this is in NO way a full list, nor is meant to slight anyone, but this is folks who leapt to mind at the party thus I had to toss them the props they earned ;). Twas a most excellent party, folks clearly had a good time, and most of all we mingled!. I did not see any wallflowering but I DO remember one person *mighty Kimba* who clearly.. earns the award of most memorable even as a late arrival.. for total lack of sleep..his dark glasses, and going *eeeee!* a lot. Get some sleep dude thursday is a long way away you know ;). All in all good clean fun, much food was provided, most was eaten, those who brought booze were polite and only one *he with no shoes* was really blotto, on others booze no less :). I will gladly be the *security bitch* as i laughing heard myself named for any other parties like this. Was good fun and most importantly..it WAS done. Gaia bless to everyone who came and to those who will come again Pakesh * Security Bitch awarded* De | | Monday, October 20th, 2008 | | 6:33 am |
Happy birthday shoutout
Hey hey there Bardness, happy birthday to you dude. Hope to catch you later online and say hi at least, stupid sore back and painkillers= one DEAD sleeping coma person.. holy crap painkiller on empty belly leads to deep solid sleeps, much happier backs, and constipation apparently :/. Well at least you get birthday hugs and hopefully a birthday pizza n such to cheer yourself up Gaia bless there dude Pakesh *clip clop clop clop thud* De | | Sunday, October 5th, 2008 | | 10:19 pm |
wednesday spaghetti madness
Lets see the wednesday spaghetti factory dinner was rather good :). We had at first just 6 of us show up but a few more late arrivals, and afterards one really late arrival*due to someone shutting off thier phone :P* so it was a nice sit down and chat session. Arrivals were me, morgan, dan, robiedobie, bungee, and snowfox. 2 others who have escaped my recall showed up as well sitting at the far corner and left early so they got away. And of course pero who shall thank dan later for shutting off his phone.. silly dan silly ;). Sadly Morgan and dobie had to leave early to get a car fixed so most of us stayed to hang in the union station at first..Go GO harveys ;). Much nibbling and cola drinking was had.. *thanks snowfox*so it was good.Sadly we had to leave at 11 as they close up. Then was the great walking wandering staggerathon we had to visit chinatown and other sites to see. How we ended up was a bit of a amuseing wander I shall call *the search for bathrooms* as a few of us had several attacks of *gotta go nows* so it became a strange walk/subway train/backtrack escapade. Thanks go to Pero for knowing where to go, and chuckles for dan for alternating tween cold shivering, bathroom wandering, and looking sleepy. Finally we make it to Morgans about 1am or so to which some of us bouncy folks were still awake, so more time was spent noshing eclairs at the next door doughnut shop. Quite tastey doughnuts btw!. After a hour plus of that it was back to Morgans to watch some classic sci-fi movies till the 6am hour oozed along, and this all nighter guy staggered to union station.. migging the early train by seconds, and finally makeing it back home at 9:10 am. A great night, much strangeness, good food!, and good company was hadso it was alll good to go out. A very special shoutout to Craven for getting me to go in the first place so much kindness for him ;). Gaia bless all, and hopefully folks will read this and check out the goodness that is *the Spaghetti Factory* chain.. very nice place to go indeed. Happy octoberness for all Pakesh *OH man thats cold out* De | | Friday, September 12th, 2008 | | 2:55 pm |
Happy Birthday shoutout
Hey there to Seraph from me ;). Yes I know it was the 11th but I sadly found myself feeling down about trying to wish a happy *anything* with all the doom and gloom.. that and this stupid poison ivy does NOT help :/. Hopefully you are keeping well even though gas just kicked all all in the wallet yet again by 13 cents ;/. Bloody robbery but we all eat the cookie of doom since its rather hard to avoid useing gas. May your cake be filling, the cards nicely done, and somehow you get to savor the weekend even with the rain!. To everyone else I can hope its going rather well even with the current situation for prices of stuff, maybe once all the election crap is over we could see some normalacy?. At least I can hope so ;) Gaia bless to one and all from Pakesh *happy birthday to you!* De | | Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 | | 2:25 pm |
strange days ahead
Ahh the long weekend and the end of summer, man strange to see it come up so darn fast! Granted it will be nice to savor the long weekend.. working as i will be for my brother dogsitting ;). might be a interesting way to spend it playing a restored classic pinball machine, watching movies i don't have, and taking the dog for long walkies in the local park. Btw there hajakai bro the account expired today for CoH just on the same time its got the I13 info posted so let me know if your suspending the game or if they just halted all payments over your card incident ok?. Was rather funny seeing that today of all days thats for sure. Hopefully everyone will be able to kick back for the last of the summer wine weekend, maybe catch some of jerry lewis shilling for the MD telethon. Man for all he has done for them they sure seem curiously ungrateful to the guy considering he has easily raised over a freaking BILLION for them. Maybe they will at least put up a statue when he kicks off ;/. Gaia bless for all from sunny skies and cool nights Pakesh *the sunlight, it burns!* De | | Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 | | 1:30 am |
where does the time fly to?
Ahh my goodness.. what a week since last monday.. everything from a robbery at the local mall jewlery store, where the go got clean away!, to friend from the great alberta praries crash for a night cause his sleeping arrangements were all munched up. I SO enjoy summer for this, cause every day can be a adventure.. as trite as it sounds I happen to like the spice popping up as it were. One can but hope that means the working with friends for the car restoration stuff actually works.. *aka* they actually want me there. if not have to look elsewhere but still help em out when wanted, gotta cherish the friends after all. Happy bday to Chloe even though i got her earlier, best wishes for roadkill whom i know is merrily trying to set up his odd internet relay system out in the bush, and a hope that cederwyn, whom im mailing at times replies to a mail, or his LJ at least ;). Gaia bless for everyone, and remember.. the days you let slide away, are gone forever Pakesh *Mm smell those storms coming* De | | Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 | | 2:57 pm |
happy birthdays for friends
Happy bday there JTbear, hope you see ironman and savor the massive coolness. I still have yet to see it but i will somehow darn it :). To everyone else, im doing ok, some sadly chronic pain as hands feel sore in the joints but im assumeing cause i have not worked in 2 weeks so the formerly stretched muscles are stiffening up darn it. Hopefully everyone will take a moment to think about missing friends, old friends, and just hope somewhere they are doing ok.. I know several i still miss myself *waves to muliebuck and hopes he answers the email i sent him* ;) Got to adore spring for sleeping good at night, perky in the day, and the soft warmth of mr sunshine. Gaia bless for all Pakesh *hey hey mr sun!* De | | Wednesday, June 20th, 2007 | | 1:59 am |
friends and the summer
So what will my net buddies and few RL friends be up to?> Got to talk to Dukeskunk earlier so him and the crew out on the other side of the landmass seem to be ok which is a relief. I hate like hell loseing contact with folks but im so damn scatterminded id lose my lunch if it was doable :). Got to cheer up felix after his loss tonight, sheesh finding roomie dead is just got to be a blow to the kidneys thats for damn sure ;/. Hopefully that trauma will be able to be dealt with without mass booze needed, or baseball bat therapy. Good ol hajakai is back home after his little trauma with loseing the mum, and thats still got me funked out. she was a sort of backup mum after mine passed away, and by GOD seeing anyone in a hospital death watch, will leave images in your head you really do not want..lordieness. I really hope that the family can play nice, settle will/estate/etc and move on though, lost most my family when our granparents passed on and the *lets have more roast beast* kicked in. Damn ghouls, let her die in peace and not nag her and steal her stuff while she is in the ward eh?. Hopeing to stay in touch with many other ol friends like seraph *peek a boo* and Thaily *sends budgie chow for her birds* to kharnak *snugs the quiet guy*. I may be damn long tween posts but I am always around, like a bad penny..or a notice in the mail. Unexpected, never sure what will be seen or said, but I am definately popping up :) Gaia bless all and remember..life sometimes hands you lemons..when it does wait till the back is turned, and nail *it* with them :). then RUN. life gets craky after that. | | Saturday, May 5th, 2007 | | 7:53 pm |
Gifts, wonders, and silly things
ok gift time.. a friend wants to send a amex gift card from the states for me to use up here. Problem is when i call the toll free line to ask if it IS usable up here, its not in service. That was odd so I figure to ask.. can a american expess card loaded in the US, be usable by a canuck up here in the great white north. Very odd, but it was funny finding the number was off, then i try a online poll from my local supermarket for a chance to win groceries..several postings say the site does not exist around where its posted. Much spring weirdness. hopefully everyone is doing well with the arrival of sun, fun, and barbeques?. I know how rare it is I post much less keep in contact with folks *hi Thaily and crew!!* but I know you are around and I can but try when the shyness does not lock me in the closet. by all means stay in touch if you wish and I can keep trying to send forth the greetings and whatnot so folks know I am not living in a cave :) Gaia bless to all, and to all, a good weekend | | Tuesday, April 17th, 2007 | | 1:58 pm |
Go with god
To those who fell at the Virginia University, all I can say is I hope you are in a far better place then here :/. To the families of those who have been stolen from you, my blessings that somehow we can see the horror this is, and work through it. Something to work on sadly..no place is truely safe from evil, and we have to remember that lest it happen again. Pakesh_De. | | Thursday, November 9th, 2006 | | 12:04 pm |
Those idle thoughts
Makes me wonder when folks go silent is it *I did something bad* or the * Im not in a chatty mood* sort of deal?. Being insecure one always has to wonder. many folks I know and not heard much from but still see the LJ's and such, reply to them but nothing much happens. Hope folks are recovering from the *non* election since everyone already figured who and what was winning. Does it suprise anyone with a 2 party system that gridlock happens on a regular basis?. Least as a canuck the third can swing OH so much weight around when someone needs that extra chair. Not that it happens a lot in public but those backroom deals must be rather supriseing. Birthday on the 25th and sort of bummed.. 39 and still pretty much a flop on many fronts. I can be honest at my age I have done little and amounted to less, but by god I wont hide behind some whine and cheese about lost chances ;). I blew a few and thats my cross to bear. So many others had no chances and seieng the posts makes me feel glad im where I am in the shape that i am. To all those friends fighting the good fight against the forces of evil, thanks a lot. As Nov 11 draws OH so fast it makes me appreciate that folks still willing to die to protect those of us that can't do it themselves. I hope we all can remember that come the 11th to simply remeber those paying the price, or paid the full price. Its a world full of people yet so many want the other persons stuff we never seem to have a period of true peace, just lots of smaller *unwars*. | | Sunday, September 10th, 2006 | | 3:09 pm |
Lies, no sex, and tech support
Why is it becomeing a small plague on mankind to get folks who speak broken english in jobs like custorm support, tech support, and billing?. I mean the past 3 days i have had 4.. 4 of them, all clearly struggling with english, to fix problems in a game, on the phone, then on billing for said phone. Even worse is catching them lying on paper and the *Oh we will check that out sir* nonsense ensures nothing will happen. Can we finally pass a law requireing folks that deal in working in public, in functions that are important, to speak english better than third grade?. Can we have them finally agree when caught lying verbally and on paper that folks will be fired rather then told *oh he noticed, next time park the truck further away so 5 folks dont notice you lied by a hour on the timesheet?*. I am not biased against the non english speakers but please..if you want us to not drive a can of beans through the head, learn by god the queens english?. I really hope others also have this fun of hammering jello to the wall like this?. Rather sad that im in ok shape but my temper is up dealing with folks who either clearly are paid TO lie, or simply when caught hide behind the * I do not understand* nonsense. makes me just want to remove them from humanity rather like darwin cleaning the genepool. gaia bless folks and hope everyone else is doing ok, drop a line, say hi :) | | Sunday, July 16th, 2006 | | 7:24 pm |
sick and tired of being a loser
Yeah.. me.. I know its a rant but I really am sick of myself for the slump im in, my health, my wealth, the whole package deal. Between memory loss, the slowly degradeing vision loss, the bad neck with the loss of muscle on the right side of my body..I really am tempted to simply chuck it all in :/. Only thing I have keeping me going is just being to stubborn , or is it to scared..to do it?. I am really not sure and doubt anyone else is. Might be the heat but I really know its not *just the tempreture* causeing this. Wish i knew where i really did my mistakes, did i alienate too many folks?. Have I been *too friendly?* Have i just been too far out of touch with reality? I have no real clues just this sadness I really have made some bad choices somewhere and I am paying for them. Rather sad when a supposed optimist to many is secrety a nervous wreck half the time, but the patina is wearing off showing my true side I suspect, a washed out bum. I just want to let my friends, and old friends, know the truth so that at least is off my chest. To the old friends lost, my apologies plain and simple. Several simply do not want to talk anymore, others I have hurt, or caused harm to come to them. Others simply find me creepy with my puppydog trying to please folks attitude, and they are correct. Wish it was not that way but i have been a loser for a good long while but simply too scared to change. I will try to fix that..somehow, but for now the old cheery pakesh is rather missing leaveing the more glum burned out shell that I am. This is just so folks know why I have been forgetting details in talks, looking or acting spaced, or simply unsure what i am doing..Its not you its me folks. Wish me luck trying to fix myself but I need a good repair book first :). Gaia Bless to any that care, or to those i once knew.. Pakesh | | Tuesday, April 18th, 2006 | | 12:22 pm |
God I hate phone companies
Well they finally found the payment but refuse to acknowledge ANY problem claiming a money order made to bell canada was not sufficently detailed enough to show what it was made to. 2+ months and told by a manage to go away and suck up the other money i wasted chaseing them down ;/. So if anyone wants to donate to the *keep pakesh online fund* Id be grateful but if not, no worries. I made this damn mess and I will clear it up somehow..225 bucks gone from those theives and they get to be cheery about it :/. Sometimes i really have to wonder why we have these coporations if all they do is legally rob whenever they feel like it. She was totally blase about the negative media I will report about it..its like they know it wont really harm them at all. And of course it makes me look like a demented crank foaming about those evil robber barons ;). So aside from that health is good, mental attitude is shot but i still have humor, the phone/net for a bit longer, and some honesty about admitting this openly. I screwed up by not being a total spaz on them earlier so I eat the costs. Guess some days being honest to these types of folks is only a sure fire way to get hosed, and badly ;/ Gaia bless to all and be safe from harm as the *good book* says, and I beleive that *hugs* | | Monday, March 13th, 2006 | | 6:31 pm |
New Computer
Happyness :). Freind updated me to a dell 1.8 pent 4 with a gig of DDR ram. its also got Home for a new OS to try and learn so if i am flakey for the nex little while you know why ;). A hearty hello to all who are around I am still trying to land work so bear with me. Hope that anyone who is keeping tabs knows once I get back on my feet folks WILL be paid back for any help and kindness they have show to me. its the least i can do to repay the karma fairy for such kindness. What goes around does come around, and I beleive that. |
